The unevenly annotated alphabetical list
The subject of boarding schools is one of the most difficult and sensitive. Very little has been written to date. ( I should mention here the work of Diane Hirshberg which stands out. Other sources are also referenced below.)
One of the things which most dismayed me was that I could not find even a list of all the boarding schools in Alaska. I began compiling one, which I believe is fairly complete. It is rather complicated, because some schools existed for just a few years, and were later succeeded by different schools at the same location. Or a school like the Jesse Lee home moved from Unalaska to Seward. There were two different schools at White Mountain.
The immediate goal is just to get an accurate list so when people reference a school, they can be specific.
