Jean Hegland is the author of a book of nonfiction (The Life Within: Celebration of a Pregnancy), and three novels. Her first novel, Into the Forest, has been adapted as a film and a graphic novel, and translated into over a dozen languages. The French translation, which was released in 2017, has been on the bestseller list in France for over two months. Her most recent novel, Still Time, is about an aging Shakespeare scholar’s attempts to reconcile with his video gamer daughter before dementia overtakes him. Admirers include novelist Karen Joy Fowler (“a moving, beautiful story”), philosopher Rebecca Goldstein (“a high-wire act of literary daring”), and Shakespeare scholar David Crystal (“Still Time is a novel Shakespeare would be proud of”). Jean lives in the forests of northern California, where she keeps bees and is always at work on another book.
